Description

These homemade Yogurt Dog Treats are a healthy and delicious frozen snack for your furry friend. Made with plain Greek yogurt, peanut butter, and optional banana and honey, these treats are easy to prepare and perfect for a cooling reward on warm days.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (unsweetened and unflavored)
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter (ensure it doesn’t contain xylitol, as it is toxic to dogs)
  • 1/2 banana, mashed (optional for extra flavor)
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional, check if your dog has any issues with honey)

Equipment

  • Silicone molds or ice cube tray (for shaping treats)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the Greek yogurt and peanut butter. Stir well until smooth and fully combined. If you’re adding mashed banana, incorporate it into the mixture at this point.
  2. Add Sweetener (Optional): If you’re using honey, add the tablespoon to the mixture and stir until fully blended. You can skip the honey if you prefer a less sweet treat.
  3. Fill Molds or Tray: Pour the mixture into silicone molds or an ice cube tray. Gently tap the tray or mold on the counter to remove any air bubbles and make sure the mixture is evenly distributed.
  4. Freeze the Treats: Place the molds in the freezer for 2-3 hours, or until the treats are completely frozen and firm.
  5. Serve and Store: Once frozen, remove the treats from the molds and serve immediately to your pup. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

  • Ensure the peanut butter used does not contain xylitol, which is highly toxic to dogs.
  • Honey is optional—avoid if your dog has allergies or sensitivities.
  • Use silicone molds or ice cube trays for easy removal and shaping of treats.
  • Store frozen treats in an airtight container to prevent freezer burn and maintain freshness.
  • These treats are not a substitute for a balanced diet; feed in moderation as snacks or rewards.
