Description

This Turkey Applejack Wrap is a delicious and easy-to-make sandwich that combines savory turkey, creamy Monterey Jack cheese, crispy bacon, and the sweet notes of apple butter and pesto mayonnaise. Wrapped in a soft flour tortilla and grilled to golden perfection on a panini press, this wrap is perfect for a quick lunch or light dinner. The fresh onion, mushrooms, and homemade pesto mayo add layers of flavor and texture, making every bite satisfyingly rich and balanced.

Ingredients

Scale

Spread & Sauce

  • â…“ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tsp pesto
  • â…“ cup apple butter

Wrap Filling

  • 7 soft taco flour tortillas
  • 1â…“ lb leftover turkey, sliced (approximately 3 ounces per wrap)
  • 7 slices Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 14 slices cooked bacon
  • 1 (4-oz) jar sliced mushrooms, drained

Instructions

  1. Prepare Pesto Mayonnaise: In a small bowl, thoroughly mix together the mayonnaise and pesto until well combined to create a flavorful spread.
  2. Assemble Wrap Base: Lay out a soft taco flour tortilla and spread a generous layer of apple butter down the middle, adding a sweet contrast to the savory ingredients.
  3. Add Cheese and Turkey: Place one slice of Monterey Jack cheese on top of the apple butter, then add approximately 3 ounces of leftover sliced turkey over the cheese.
  4. Add Vegetables and Bacon: Top the turkey with a few thin slices of onion, 2 slices of cooked bacon, drained mushroom slices, and 1 to 2 teaspoons of the prepared pesto mayonnaise for extra flavor.
  5. Fold and Grill: Fold the edges of the tortilla toward the center to enclose the fillings, then place the wrap on a preheated panini press. Grill until the tortilla is golden brown and crispy, and the cheese has melted, about 5 minutes.
  6. Serve: Remove the wrap from the press and serve warm with a side of spicy honey mustard for dipping, if desired.

Notes

  • You can substitute the taco flour tortillas with whole wheat or gluten-free tortillas to suit dietary preferences.
  • Leftover turkey can be replaced with cooked chicken or turkey breast.
  • Make sure the mushrooms are well drained to avoid sogginess in the wrap.
  • The wraps are best served immediately to enjoy the melted cheese and crispy tortilla.
  • For a vegetarian version, omit the turkey and bacon and add extra mushrooms or grilled vegetables.
  • Spicy honey mustard can be bought pre-made or mixed using Dijon mustard, honey, and a dash of cayenne pepper.
