Ingredients
Scale
Peach Filling
- 4 cups fresh or frozen peaches, sliced
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
Cobbler Topping
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking dish to prevent sticking and ensure easy serving.
- Make the peach filling: In a large bowl, combine the sliced peaches, granulated sugar, lemon juice, cornstarch, and ground cinnamon if using. Mix thoroughly to evenly coat the peaches, then set aside to allow the flavors to meld.
- Prepare the topping: In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add the melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract, stirring just until combined to keep the topping light and tender.
- Assemble the cobbler: Pour the peach mixture into the prepared baking dish. Drop spoonfuls of the batter evenly over the top of the peaches, spreading gently to cover as much surface as possible.
- Bake: Place the dish in the oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the biscuit topping is golden brown and the peach filling is bubbly.
- Cool and serve: Remove from the oven and let the cobbler cool for 10-15 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm, ideally paired with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for added indulgence.
Notes
- Using fresh peaches gives the best flavor, but frozen peaches work well if fresh are out of season.
- If you prefer a less sweet cobbler, you can reduce the sugar quantity slightly.
- The cornstarch helps thicken the peach filling as it bakes, preventing it from being too runny.
- Feel free to add a pinch of nutmeg or ginger for extra spice complexity.
- To make it gluten-free, substitute the flour with a gluten-free all-purpose blend.
