Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- ¾ cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (plus extra for topping, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper to ensure the bread does not stick.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the mashed bananas with the melted butter. Stir in the brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until the mixture is well blended.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon to evenly distribute the leavening and spices.
- Mix Wet and Dry Ingredients: Add the dry ingredients to the wet banana mixture and stir just until combined. Be careful to avoid overmixing to keep the bread tender.
- Fold in Chocolate Chips: Gently fold the semi-sweet chocolate chips into the batter to ensure even distribution without overworking the batter.
- Fill Pan and Add Topping: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top evenly. If desired, sprinkle extra chocolate chips over the batter for a nice topping.
- Bake: Bake for 55–65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, indicating the bread is fully cooked.
- Cool: Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10–15 minutes. Then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Use very ripe bananas with lots of brown spots for the best flavor and moisture.
- For added texture and flavor, consider adding chopped walnuts or pecans to the batter.
- Store leftovers wrapped tightly at room temperature for up to 3 days to maintain freshness.
