Ingredients
Scale
Fruit Mixture
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
- 2 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Optional: 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Topping
- 3/4 cup rolled oats
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup sliced almonds
- 1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, cold and diced
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Fruit: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced peaches, halved strawberries, granulated sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon if using. Toss gently to coat the fruit evenly.
- Make the Crisp Topping: In a separate bowl, mix together rolled oats, flour, sliced almonds, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add the cold, diced butter and use your fingers or a pastry cutter to blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Assemble the Crisp: Transfer the fruit mixture to a greased 8-inch baking dish or similar size. Evenly sprinkle the oat and almond topping over the fruit layer.
- Bake the Crisp: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the fruit mixture is bubbling around the edges.
- Cool and Serve: Remove the crisp from the oven and allow it to cool for at least 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or serve chilled as desired.
- Optional Variations: Try swapping strawberries with blueberries or raspberries, or add shredded coconut or different nuts to the topping for added texture and flavor.
