Ingredients
Scale
Brownie Layer
- 1 box of your favorite brownie mix (or homemade brownies, if preferred)
- Ingredients required for the brownie mix (usually eggs, oil, and water)
Whipped Cream Layer
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Toppings and Garnishes
- 1/2 cup green sprinkles (or St. Patrick’s Day themed sprinkles)
- 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)
- 1/4 cup crushed mint chocolate (like Andes mints or chocolate peppermint bark, optional)
- Green sprinkles for garnish
- Mint leaves (optional for decoration)
- Extra chocolate shavings or chips (optional)
Instructions
- Bake the brownies: Prepare the brownies according to the package instructions, or use your favorite homemade brownie recipe. Bake and let them cool completely. Once cooled, cut the brownies into 1-inch squares.
- Make the whipped cream: In a large mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Use an electric mixer to beat the mixture on medium-high speed until stiff peaks form. Set aside.
- Assemble the trifle: In a large trifle dish or individual serving glasses, begin layering the ingredients. Start with a layer of brownie squares at the bottom of the dish.
- Add whipped cream: Top the brownie layer with a generous layer of whipped cream.
- Add toppings: Sprinkle green sprinkles, mini chocolate chips, or crushed mint chocolate over the whipped cream layer for extra flavor and texture.
- Repeat layers: Continue layering brownies, whipped cream, and toppings until all ingredients are used, finishing with a top layer of whipped cream.
- Garnish the trifle: Decorate the top whipped cream layer with additional green sprinkles, mint leaves, and extra chocolate shavings or chips. Add a few whole brownies on top for an attractive presentation.
- Chill and serve: Refrigerate the trifle for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld and the dessert to set. Serve chilled.
Notes
- Use homemade brownies for a richer flavor and to control ingredients.
- Whip the cream until stiff peaks to ensure it holds shape in the trifle.
- For added texture, try layering with crushed cookies or nuts.
- Can be prepared a day ahead and refrigerated for convenience.
- Optional toppings like mini chocolate chips and mint chocolates add festive flavor and crunch.
- Ensure brownies are fully cooled before layering to prevent melting the whipped cream.
