Ingredients
Scale
Seafood and Seasoning
- 1 lb cooked crawfish tails, peeled and deveined
- 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
Cheeses
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
Chips and Oils
- 1 bag tortilla chips
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Toppings and Garnishes
- 1/2 cup sliced green onions
- 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 jalapeño, thinly sliced
- 1 lime, cut into wedges
- 1/2 cup sour cream
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the nachos.
- Season the Crawfish: In a medium bowl, toss the cooked crawfish tails with Cajun seasoning, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Let them marinate for about 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- Arrange the Chips: Spread the tortilla chips evenly over a baking sheet to create a base layer.
- Add the First Layer of Cheese: Sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses evenly over the tortilla chips to help bind the ingredients.
- Add the Seasoned Crawfish: Distribute the seasoned crawfish tails evenly on top of the cheese-covered chips for a spicy seafood punch.
- Top with Remaining Cheese: Sprinkle the rest of the cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses over the crawfish to create a cheesy crust when baked.
- Bake the Nachos: Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden.
- Prepare Toppings: While the nachos bake, slice the green onions, dice the tomatoes, chop the cilantro, and thinly slice the jalapeño for fresh toppings.
- Add Fresh Toppings: Remove the baked nachos from the oven and immediately sprinkle the sliced green onions, diced tomatoes, and chopped cilantro over the top.
- Garnish: Add jalapeño slices and lime wedges to the plate to enhance the flavor and offer extra heat and acidity.
- Serve with Sour Cream: Serve the nachos hot with sour cream on the side for dipping or dolloping on top, enhancing creaminess and balancing the spice.
Notes
- Use freshly cooked or thawed crawfish tails for the best texture and flavor.
- Adjust Cajun seasoning to taste depending on your spice preference.
- For a milder version, omit the jalapeño slices or use fewer.
- Serve immediately to enjoy the crispy texture of the chips and melted cheese.
- Substitute Monterey Jack with mozzarella or pepper jack cheese for a different flavor profile.
