Ingredients
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 lb frozen meatballs
- 3 cups water
- 24 oz marinara sauce
- 8 oz spaghetti, broken in half
- ½ tsp salt
Instructions
- Sauté aromatics: Turn the Instant Pot to sauté mode. Add olive oil and sauté the diced onions and minced garlic for 2 minutes until fragrant, releasing their flavors.
- Layer ingredients: Without stirring, layer the frozen meatballs first, then add the broken spaghetti noodles, followed by the marinara sauce and water.
- Pressure cook: Close the Instant Pot lid, set the valve to sealing, and cook on High Pressure for 8 minutes to cook the pasta and heat the meatballs thoroughly.
- Release pressure: Perform a quick release carefully to let out the built-up steam and pressure.
- Mix and finish: Open the lid and stir the contents well to evenly combine the spaghetti and meatballs with the sauce.
- Serve: Plate the dish and optionally garnish with Parmesan cheese or fresh basil for extra flavor.
Notes
- Using frozen meatballs is convenient, but fresh cooked meatballs can also be used if preferred.
- Be sure to break the spaghetti in half so it fits better in the Instant Pot and cooks evenly.
- Adjust salt to taste depending on the saltiness of your marinara sauce.
- For a vegetarian version, substitute meatballs with plant-based alternatives and ensure the marinara sauce contains no animal products.
- Top with grated Parmesan and fresh herbs to enhance the presentation and taste.
