- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Gravy
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups chicken broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Season Pork Chops: Season pork chops on both sides with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika to prepare them for searing.
- Sear Pork Chops: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add pork chops and sear for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
- Cook Onions: Reduce heat to medium, add butter to the skillet. Add sliced onions and cook for 5-6 minutes until softened and caramelized.
- Add Garlic and Flour: Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute. Sprinkle flour over onions and stir to create a roux, cooking for 1-2 minutes.
- Make Gravy: Slowly whisk in chicken broth ensuring no lumps. Stir in heavy cream, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer until slightly thickened.
- Simmer Pork Chops: Return pork chops to skillet, spoon gravy over them, cover, and simmer on low heat for 15-20 minutes until chops are cooked through.
- Garnish and Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve hot with sides like mashed potatoes or rice.
Notes
- For extra flavor, marinate pork chops in olive oil, garlic, and herbs for 30 minutes before cooking.
- Serve with mashed potatoes or rice to soak up the creamy onion gravy.
