Description

This Simple Chia Seed Jam is a quick, healthy, and delicious homemade jam made with fresh berries, chia seeds, and natural sweeteners. It requires no cooking, making it a perfect easy-to-make spread that’s packed with fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, and antioxidants. Ideal for toast, yogurt, or smoothies, this jam keeps fresh in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

Ingredients

Scale

Jam Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh berries (strawberries, blueberries, or raspberries)
  • 1/4 cup chia seeds
  • 2-3 tbsp honey or maple syrup (to taste)
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Berries: Rinse the fresh berries thoroughly under cold water to remove any dirt or debris, then gently pat them dry with a clean towel. Remove any stems to ensure a smooth jam texture.
  2. Mash the Berries: Place the cleaned berries into a mixing bowl and mash them using a fork or potato masher until you reach your desired texture, whether smooth or slightly chunky.
  3. Mix Ingredients: Add chia seeds, honey or maple syrup, and water to the mashed berries. Stir everything together until well combined, ensuring the chia seeds are evenly distributed.
  4. Allow to Thicken: Let the mixture sit at room temperature for 15 to 30 minutes. During this time, the chia seeds will absorb moisture and expand, naturally thickening the jam.
  5. Store the Jam: Transfer the thickened jam into a clean jar with a tight-fitting lid. Refrigerate and consume within two weeks for best freshness and flavor.

Notes

  • You can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less honey or maple syrup according to your taste preference.
  • For a smoother jam, blend the berries before mixing in chia seeds.
  • This jam is naturally gluten-free and vegan if you use maple syrup instead of honey.
  • If you prefer a seedless jam, strain the berry mash before adding chia seeds.
  • Use fresh, ripe berries for the best flavor and natural sweetness.
