Description

Savory Spinach and Cheese Stuffed Crescent Rolls are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer featuring flaky crescent dough filled with a creamy mixture of spinach, ricotta, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheeses, seasoned with garlic and spices. These warm, cheesy rolls are perfect for parties or as a tasty side dish.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 1 (8 oz) can refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 cup frozen chopped spinach (thawed and well-drained)
  • ½ cup ricotta cheese
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg (lightly beaten)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
  2. Prepare the filling. In a medium bowl, combine the thawed and well-drained chopped spinach, ricotta cheese, shredded mozzarella cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, lightly beaten egg, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes if using. Mix until all ingredients are thoroughly blended.
  3. Roll out the dough. Unroll the refrigerated crescent roll dough and separate it into 8 triangular pieces, ready for filling.
  4. Fill and shape the crescents. Place a heaping tablespoon of the spinach and cheese mixture onto the wide end of each triangle. Carefully roll up each crescent starting from the wide end, gently tucking in any filling that escapes to prevent leakage during baking.
  5. Arrange and brush. Place the stuffed crescent rolls on the lined baking sheet with some space between them. Brush the tops evenly with melted butter to enhance browning and flavor.
  6. Bake until golden. Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and fully cooked through. Remove from the oven and serve them warm for the best taste and texture.

Notes

  • These stuffed crescent rolls make a fantastic appetizer or side dish for gatherings and meals.
  • You can prepare the spinach and cheese filling ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator until ready to assemble the rolls.
  • For a spicier kick, increase the amount of crushed red pepper flakes or add a dash of cayenne pepper.
  • Ensure the spinach is well-drained to prevent soggy dough.
  • Serve warm for the best flavor and melty cheese texture.
