Ingredients
Scale
Dough
- 1 package refrigerated pizza dough
Sausage Gravy
- 1 pound breakfast sausage
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
Toppings
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 6 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- Prepare Sausage Gravy: Cook sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Do not drain the grease to retain flavor.
- Add Flour: Sprinkle the all-purpose flour over the browned sausage and cook for 1-2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste and form a roux.
- Make Gravy: Gradually stir in the milk, continually stirring and cooking until the mixture thickens to a creamy gravy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to prepare for baking the pizza.
- Prepare Dough: Roll out the refrigerated pizza dough on a greased baking sheet to form the pizza base.
- Spread Sausage Gravy: Evenly spread the prepared sausage gravy over the pizza dough, covering the surface completely.
- Add Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese evenly over the sausage gravy layer.
- Add Eggs: Create six small wells or indentations in the cheese and carefully crack one egg into each well to keep them separate while baking.
- Bake the Pizza: Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the eggs are set to your liking and the crust is golden brown.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and sprinkle the chopped fresh parsley over the pizza before slicing and serving.
Notes
- You can adjust the seasoning of the gravy with additional herbs or spices as desired.
- For a crispier crust, bake the dough for 5 minutes before adding toppings.
- Ensure eggs are fresh for best flavor and appearance when baked.
- Serve with a side of fruit or a light salad for a balanced breakfast.
