Description

Delightfully rich and indulgent Samoa Truffles inspired by the beloved cookie, combining crushed Samoa cookies, creamy cream cheese, luscious caramel, and coconut, all enrobed in melted chocolate and garnished with toasted coconut. Perfect bite-sized treats for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Truffle Mixture

  • 1 box of crushed Samoa cookies or vanilla wafers
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 3 tbsp caramel sauce
  • ½ tsp coconut extract

Chocolate Coating and Garnish

  • 8 oz melted dark or milk chocolate
  • ½ cup toasted coconut (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Mix Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the crushed Samoa cookies or vanilla wafers, softened cream cheese, caramel sauce, and coconut extract. Stir thoroughly until a sticky dough forms, ensuring all ingredients are well incorporated.
  2. Form Balls: Roll the sticky dough into small, approximately 1-inch diameter balls. Arrange them evenly on a parchment-lined baking sheet to prevent sticking.
  3. Chill Truffles: Place the baking sheet with the truffle balls in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to allow them to firm up, making them easier to coat with chocolate.
  4. Melt Chocolate: While the truffles chill, melt the dark or milk chocolate using a double boiler or microwave in short bursts, stirring occasionally to achieve a smooth, even melt without burning.
  5. Dip Truffles: Retrieve the chilled truffles and dip each ball fully into the melted chocolate, coating them completely. Use a fork or dipping tool and tap off any excess chocolate before placing them back on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
  6. Garnish: While the chocolate coating is still soft, sprinkle toasted coconut over each truffle to add texture and extra coconut flavor.
  7. Set Chocolate: Refrigerate the coated truffles for another 30 minutes or until the chocolate has fully hardened. Once set, the Samoa Truffles are ready to serve and enjoy.

Notes

  • You can substitute vanilla wafers if Samoa cookies are unavailable, but Samoa cookies provide signature caramel and coconut flavors.
  • Make sure the cream cheese is softened for easier mixing and smoother dough.
  • Use high-quality chocolate for a better taste and glossy finish.
  • Store truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • Allow truffles to come to room temperature briefly before eating to enhance flavor and texture.
