Ingredients
Scale
Meat Mixture
- 1 lb ground chuck
- â…“ cup chopped pepperoni
- 3 Tbsp pizza sauce
- 1½ tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 egg
Toppings & Assembly
- 3 slices mozzarella cheese
- Warm pizza sauce (for serving)
- 3 hamburger buns
Instructions
- Prepare the Meat Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine the ground chuck, chopped pepperoni, Italian seasoning, egg, and pizza sauce. Use your hands or a wooden spoon to thoroughly mix all ingredients until evenly distributed.
- Form Patties: Divide the meat mixture into three equal portions. Gently shape each portion into a round patty, being careful not to overwork the meat so the burgers stay tender.
- Cook the Burgers: Grill or broil the patties to your desired doneness, usually about 4-5 minutes per side for medium. Ensure they are cooked through for safety.
- Add Cheese and Sauce: During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of mozzarella cheese on each patty to melt. After cooking, spread warm pizza sauce on each bun and place the cheesy patties on top to assemble the burgers.
Notes
- You can substitute ground chuck with any ground beef blend or turkey, but cooking times may vary.
- For an extra crispy crust on the buns, toast them lightly on the grill or under the broiler before assembling.
- If you prefer, use provolone or a blend of Italian cheeses instead of mozzarella for more flavor variety.
- Be sure to handle the patties gently to keep them tender and juicy.
- Additional toppings like sliced onions, peppers, or fresh basil can add more layers of flavor.
