Description

These Pizza Burgers combine the best of two favorites—juicy seasoned beef patties infused with pepperoni and Italian seasoning, topped with melted mozzarella and warm pizza sauce, all served on a soft hamburger bun. A quick and flavorful twist on the classic burger, perfect for a speedy weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat Mixture

  • 1 lb ground chuck
  • â…“ cup chopped pepperoni
  • 3 Tbsp pizza sauce
  • 1½ tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 egg

Toppings & Assembly

  • 3 slices mozzarella cheese
  • Warm pizza sauce (for serving)
  • 3 hamburger buns

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Meat Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine the ground chuck, chopped pepperoni, Italian seasoning, egg, and pizza sauce. Use your hands or a wooden spoon to thoroughly mix all ingredients until evenly distributed.
  2. Form Patties: Divide the meat mixture into three equal portions. Gently shape each portion into a round patty, being careful not to overwork the meat so the burgers stay tender.
  3. Cook the Burgers: Grill or broil the patties to your desired doneness, usually about 4-5 minutes per side for medium. Ensure they are cooked through for safety.
  4. Add Cheese and Sauce: During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of mozzarella cheese on each patty to melt. After cooking, spread warm pizza sauce on each bun and place the cheesy patties on top to assemble the burgers.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground chuck with any ground beef blend or turkey, but cooking times may vary.
  • For an extra crispy crust on the buns, toast them lightly on the grill or under the broiler before assembling.
  • If you prefer, use provolone or a blend of Italian cheeses instead of mozzarella for more flavor variety.
  • Be sure to handle the patties gently to keep them tender and juicy.
  • Additional toppings like sliced onions, peppers, or fresh basil can add more layers of flavor.
