Description

This Italian Sausage Ravioli Alfredo is a creamy, comforting baked pasta dish featuring tender cheese ravioli combined with savory Italian sausage and a rich Alfredo sauce enhanced with sour cream, ricotta, and Parmesan. Topped with melted mozzarella and fresh parsley, it’s perfect for a satisfying family dinner or gathering.

Ingredients

Scale

Sausage Mixture

  • 1½ pounds Italian sausage (casings removed)
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 2 large eggs (lightly beaten)
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 (15-oz) container ricotta cheese
  • 1 (8-oz) container sour cream

Pasta and Sauce

  • 1 (25-oz) package frozen cheese ravioli
  • 1 (22-oz) jar Alfredo sauce

Topping

  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350ºF. Lightly spray a 9×13-inch baking pan with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Cook the sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the Italian sausage until it’s no longer pink throughout. Drain any excess fat to keep the dish from being greasy.
  3. Mix the pasta filling: In a large bowl, combine the cooked sausage, frozen cheese ravioli, Alfredo sauce, sour cream, ricotta cheese, minced garlic, lightly beaten eggs, grated Parmesan, and chopped parsley. Stir the mixture thoroughly to ensure everything is evenly incorporated.
  4. Assemble the casserole: Pour the combined pasta and sausage mixture into the prepared baking pan. Evenly sprinkle the top with the 2 cups of mozzarella cheese for a deliciously melty crust.
  5. Bake the dish: Bake the assembled ravioli casserole uncovered in the oven for 30 to 40 minutes, or until the dish is bubbly and the cheese is melted and slightly golden on top. Let it rest a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier variation, use spicy Italian sausage instead of mild.
  • You can substitute fresh ravioli if preferred, adjusting cooking time slightly.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
  • Adding a sprinkle of crushed red pepper flakes on top before baking adds a nice kick.
  • If you want a lower-fat version, use reduced-fat cheeses and turkey sausage.
