Ingredients
Scale
Liquids & Powders
- 1 cup coconut water
- ½ cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1 teaspoon matcha powder
- 1 teaspoon chlorella powder
- 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
Fruits & Vegetables
- 1 medium frozen banana
- ½ cup frozen pineapple chunks
- ½ cup frozen mango chunks
- 1 cup fresh baby spinach
- 1 cup chopped curly kale, stems removed
- ½ avocado, peeled and pitted
- 1-inch piece fresh ginger, peeled
- Juice of ½ lime
- 5 mint leaves
Seeds & Others
- 2 tablespoons hemp seeds
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 4 ice cubes
Instructions
- Prepare the base: Begin by pouring the coconut water and unsweetened almond milk into your blender. Add the matcha powder, chlorella powder, and apple cider vinegar. Blend on low for five seconds to ensure the powders dissolve evenly, creating a creamy base without clumping.
- Add creamy and flavor ingredients: Incorporate the avocado, frozen banana, fresh ginger, and mint leaves into the blender. Blend on medium speed for about ten seconds to create a smooth texture and blend the flavors uniformly before adding greens.
- Incorporate the greens: Add the fresh baby spinach and chopped curly kale to the blender. Blend on medium speed until the mixture turns a deep green and the leafy greens are fully broken down, which ensures a smooth consistency without any leafy bits.
- Add tropical fruits and seeds: Toss in the frozen pineapple chunks, frozen mango chunks, hemp seeds, chia seeds, and ice cubes. Blend on high speed for approximately thirty seconds until the smoothie is smooth and frothy, enhancing its refreshing texture and nutritional profile.
- Finish with citrus: Squeeze the juice of half a lime into the blender and blend quickly for five seconds. Pour the smoothie into tall glasses and optionally garnish with a sprig of mint for a fresh, vibrant touch to complete your island green detox smoothie experience.
Notes
- For an extra protein boost, add a scoop of your favorite plant-based protein powder.
- If you prefer a sweeter smoothie, add a teaspoon of honey or maple syrup.
- To make this smoothie ahead, prepare all ingredients except ice and blend fresh before serving.
- Adjust the thickness by adding more coconut water for a thinner consistency or more frozen fruit for a thicker smoothie.
- Make sure to remove kale stems to avoid a bitter taste in your smoothie.
