Description

Create beautiful and delicious Pizza Roses, a perfect savory treat to impress on your next date night. Made with soft pizza dough, flavorful marinara, gooey mozzarella, and savory pepperoni, these rolled treats bake to golden perfection and are perfect for sharing.

Ingredients

Scale

Pizza Dough

  • 1 pound Pizza Dough (store-bought or homemade)

Sauces

  • 1 cup Marinara Sauce (can substitute with Alfredo or pesto)

Cheese

  • 1 cup Mozzarella Cheese (Cheddar or vegan cheese can be used for variations)

Toppings

  • 1 cup Pepperoni (can substitute with veggies like bell peppers or mushrooms)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) ensuring it reaches the proper temperature for even baking of the pizza roses.
  2. Prepare the Dough. Lightly flour a clean surface to prevent sticking, then roll out your pizza dough until it is about ¼ inch thick, creating an even base.
  3. Slice the Dough. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the rolled-out dough into equal 2-inch wide strips.
  4. Add Sauce, Cheese, and Toppings. Spread a layer of marinara sauce on each strip, sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly on top, then arrange slices of pepperoni over the cheese.
  5. Form Pizza Roses. Starting from one end of each strip, carefully roll the dough into a rose shape, tucking and pinching the edges to hold the shape.
  6. Arrange in Baking Dish. Place the rolled pizza roses upright in a baking dish with some space between each to allow expansion during baking.
  7. Bake. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, until the dough is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and melted.
  8. Cool and Serve. Let the pizza roses cool slightly before serving; they are delicious on their own or accompanied by dipping sauce or a fresh salad.

Notes

  • You can substitute marinara sauce with Alfredo or pesto sauces for different flavor profiles.
  • For a vegetarian version, replace pepperoni with sliced bell peppers, mushrooms, or other favorite vegetables.
  • Ensure the dough strips are evenly cut to achieve uniform pizza roses.
  • Use vegan cheese to make this recipe suitable for vegan diets.
  • Let the pizza roses cool slightly to avoid burning your fingers and to help them hold their shape when served.
