Enjoy a cozy homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte made with warm milk, pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice, and a shot of strong coffee or espresso. This comforting fall beverage is topped with whipped cream and a dash of spice, perfect to savor any time of the year.
Ingredients
Scale
For the Pumpkin Spice Latte
- 2 cups milk (dairy or non-dairy of your choice)
- 2 tablespoons pumpkin puree
- 1-2 tablespoons sugar (to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice, plus extra for garnish
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup strong coffee or 2 shots of espresso
For Topping
- Whipped cream
- Extra pumpkin pie spice for garnish
Instructions
- Heat Pumpkin Milk Mixture: In a small saucepan over medium heat, whisk together the milk, pumpkin puree, sugar, and pumpkin pie spice. Heat the mixture, stirring often, until it’s hot and steaming, but do not let it boil, to avoid curdling or scalding the milk.
- Add Vanilla and Froth: Remove the saucepan from heat and whisk in the vanilla extract. Use an immersion blender to blend the mixture until frothy. If you don’t have one, transfer the mixture to a blender or use a milk frother to achieve a creamy, foamy texture.
- Brew Coffee: Brew your strong coffee or pull two shots of espresso to provide the rich coffee flavor base.
- Combine Coffee and Pumpkin Milk: Divide the hot coffee or espresso evenly between two mugs. Then, pour the warm pumpkin milk mixture over the coffee in each mug, blending the flavors beautifully.
- Garnish and Serve: Top each latte generously with whipped cream and sprinkle with a little extra pumpkin pie spice. Serve immediately and enjoy the warm, flavorful drink.
Notes
- Use any milk you prefer including almond, oat, soy, or regular dairy milk based on your dietary needs or taste.
- Adjust the sugar amount to your preferred sweetness level.
- You can make this recipe caffeine-free by substituting the coffee with hot decaf coffee or steamed milk.
- For extra spice, add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg along with the pumpkin pie spice.
- Leftover pumpkin spice latte mixture can be refrigerated for up to 2 days—reheat gently before serving.
