Description

These Grilled Cheeseburger Wraps combine the classic flavors of a cheeseburger with the convenience of a wrap. Ground beef seasoned with Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, and spices is cooked to perfection, then layered with American cheese, fresh tomatoes, and crisp romaine lettuce on a tortilla. Grilled until delightfully crispy and melty inside, these wraps make a quick, satisfying meal perfect for any day of the week.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat and Seasonings

  • 1 pound (454 g) lean ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Wrap and Fillings

  • 5 medium tortilla wraps
  • 5 slices American cheese
  • 2 Roma tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 cup romaine lettuce, chopped (approximately 0.2 cup per wrap)
  • Optional: diced onions

Condiments

  • Optional: ketchup
  • Optional: mustard
  • Optional: mayonnaise
  • Optional: relish

Instructions

  1. Cook the Ground Beef: Heat a large skillet coated with cooking spray over medium heat. Add 1 pound (454 g) of lean ground beef and cook, breaking it up as it browns, for about 7 to 10 minutes until almost cooked through but still slightly pink for flavor development.
  2. Season the Beef: Stir in Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, grated Parmesan cheese, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to incorporate all flavors evenly.
  3. Finish Cooking the Beef: Continue cooking the beef mixture until fully cooked and no pink remains, ensuring it is safe and flavorful.
  4. Assemble the Wraps: Lay each tortilla flat and place one slice of American cheese in the center. Top with approximately 1/3 cup (~80 g) of the cooked beef. Add tomato slices and about 1/5 cup chopped romaine lettuce. Optionally, sprinkle diced onions for added sharpness.
  5. Add Condiments: Spread ketchup, mustard, and a little mayonnaise on top of the fillings as desired to boost flavor and moisture within the wrap.
  6. Roll the Wraps: Roll each tortilla tightly, keeping fillings centered, and place them seam side down on a preheated indoor grill or grill pan set to medium-high heat.
  7. Grill First Side: Grill each wrap for 3 to 4 minutes until grill marks form and the wrap becomes slightly crunchy.
  8. Grill Second Side and Melt Cheese: Turn the wraps over and grill another 3 to 4 minutes until golden brown grill marks appear, the wrap is crisp when pressed, and the cheese inside is melted.
  9. Keep Warm: Transfer the grilled wraps to a warming area or low heat oven to keep them warm while finishing the remaining wraps.

Notes

  • Use lean ground beef (90% lean or higher) to reduce grease and improve texture.
  • Grill the wraps on medium-high heat to achieve crispness without burning the tortilla.
  • Feel free to customize toppings with pickles, onions, or your favorite burger condiments.
  • For a spicier option, add a dash of hot sauce or cayenne pepper to the beef mixture.
  • Wraps can be kept warm in a low oven (around 200°F or 90°C) while other wraps finish grilling.
  • Ensure the cheese slice covers the beef to help bind the filling when melted.
