Ingredients
Scale
Wet Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cup honey or maple syrup
- 1/4 cup coconut oil, melted
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Dry Ingredients
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup whole wheat flour or almond flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Optional
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chopped nuts
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper to prevent the brownies from sticking.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the Greek yogurt, cocoa powder, honey or maple syrup, melted coconut oil, eggs, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and evenly combined.
- Add Dry Ingredients: Add the whole wheat or almond flour, baking powder, and salt to the wet ingredients. Stir gently until just combined to avoid overmixing, which can make brownies tough. Fold in the optional chocolate chips or chopped nuts if using.
- Prepare to Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it out evenly to ensure uniform baking.
- Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean with just a few moist crumbs remaining.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, slice into 12 servings and enjoy.
Notes
- If you prefer a sweeter brownie, you can increase the honey or maple syrup by 1-2 tablespoons.
- Using almond flour creates a gluten-free version, while whole wheat flour adds more fiber.
- Do not overbake to maintain the fudgy texture; check at 20 minutes.
- For a dairy-free alternative, ensure the Greek yogurt is substituted with a plant-based yogurt, but this may alter texture.
- Store brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
