Meatball Ingredients
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/3 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
For Cooking
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking and brushing meatballs)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper or lightly greasing it to prevent sticking.
- Mix Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, finely chopped red onion, minced garlic, fresh parsley, dill, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, ground cumin, lemon juice, breadcrumbs, and the egg. Mix gently until all ingredients are just combined, taking care not to overmix to keep the meatballs tender.
- Form Meatballs: Using a small cookie scoop or spoon, shape the mixture into 1 1/2-inch meatballs and place them evenly spaced on the prepared baking sheet.
- Prepare for Baking: Lightly brush or spray the tops of the meatballs with olive oil to help them brown and keep moist during baking.
- Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake the meatballs for 18–20 minutes or until they are golden brown and cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- Serve: Allow the meatballs to cool slightly before serving. They pair beautifully with tzatziki sauce, warm pita bread, or a fresh Greek salad for a complete meal.
Notes
- The meatballs can alternatively be pan-fried or air-fried if you prefer a different cooking method.
- They freeze well for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven or microwave when ready to enjoy.
- Ensure not to overmix the meat mixture to keep the meatballs tender and juicy.
