Description

A flavorful and healthy side dish featuring sautéed garlic, cauliflower florets, and mushrooms, garnished with fresh parsley and optionally topped with Parmesan cheese. This quick and easy recipe is perfect for a nutritious addition to any meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Vegetables

  • 1 head cauliflower, cut into florets
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

Seasonings & Garnish

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley, for garnish
  • Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cauliflower: Cut the cauliflower into florets. Rinse, drain, and pat dry to remove excess moisture for better cooking results.
  2. Cook the Garlic: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat, then add the minced garlic and stir constantly for 1 minute to release its aroma without burning.
  3. Add the Cauliflower: Add cauliflower florets to the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are slightly softened and acquire a golden brown color.
  4. Add the Mushrooms: Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and continue cooking for another 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms are softened and golden brown.
  5. Season the Dish: Season the mixture with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Stir well to distribute the spices evenly.
  6. Finish and Serve: Remove the skillet from heat and transfer the cooked vegetables to a serving dish.
  7. Garnish: Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over the top for a fresh herbal finish.
  8. Optional Cheese: Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on the vegetables if desired for added richness.
  9. Enjoy: Serve hot as a delicious, nutritious side dish or a light main course.

Notes

  • Use fresh cauliflower and mushrooms for the best texture and flavor.
  • Adjust the red pepper flakes according to your spice preference or omit for a milder taste.
  • For a vegan version, skip the Parmesan cheese or substitute with a plant-based cheese alternative.
  • To keep cauliflower florets intact and tender, avoid overcrowding the skillet.
  • This dish can be served alongside grilled or roasted meats, or as part of a vegetarian meal.
