Guacamole Ingredients
- 3 medium avocados, cubed
- ¾ cup tomatoes, diced
- ¼ cup red onion, diced
- ¼ cup cilantro, chopped (optional)
- 1 medium jalapeño pepper, minced
- 2 medium limes, juice only
- ½ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Mash Avocados: Cut the avocados into large pieces. In a large bowl, mash the avocados with a fork to your desired consistency, whether smooth or chunky.
- Add Lime and Salt: Pour the juice of the two limes and add ½ teaspoon of salt to the mashed avocados. Mix thoroughly to combine and add tanginess and seasoning.
- Dice Vegetables: Dice the tomatoes, red onion, and chop cilantro if using. These fresh vegetables add texture and flavor to the guacamole.
- Prep Jalapeño: Wearing gloves, remove the seeds and white membrane from the jalapeño to reduce heat, then mince it finely. Be careful to avoid touching your face.
- Combine: Add the diced tomatoes, red onion, chopped cilantro, and minced jalapeño to the avocado mixture. Mix all the ingredients gently but thoroughly until evenly combined.
- Serve Immediately: For best flavor and freshness, serve the guacamole immediately with tortilla chips, as a topping, or alongside your favorite dishes.
Notes
- Wearing gloves when handling jalapeño helps prevent skin irritation and accidental eye contact.
- Adjust the amount of jalapeño or remove seeds to control the spiciness.
- For creamier guacamole, mash the avocados more finely.
- Serve immediately to prevent browning; if needed, cover tightly with plastic wrap touching the surface of the guacamole to minimize air exposure.
- Optional cilantro can be omitted if you’re not a fan of its flavor.
