Ingredients
Scale
Biscuits and Topping
- 16 oz. can Pillsbury biscuit dough
- 8 oz. provolone cheese slices
- 3 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Beef and Au Jus
- 1 1/2 lbs. Hormel beef roast (for au jus and shredded beef)
Instructions
- Prepare Beef Roast: Place the Hormel beef roast into a Crock-Pot set on high to heat and shred the beef while simultaneously warming the au jus for dipping later.
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Tray: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×13 inch baking tray to arrange the biscuits.
- Make Garlic Butter: Mix the melted butter with garlic powder thoroughly to create a garlic butter mixture, and set aside.
- Bake Biscuits: Arrange the Pillsbury biscuit dough evenly spaced in the prepared 9×13 inch tray. Brush each biscuit generously with the garlic butter mixture. Bake until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
- Assemble Biscuits: Remove the baked biscuits from the oven and carefully cut each biscuit in half using a paring knife.
- Top Biscuits: Layer shredded beef evenly onto the bottom half of each biscuit, then place provolone cheese slices on top of the beef.
- Bake Again: Return the assembled biscuits to the oven and bake until the provolone cheese becomes bubbly and golden, ensuring it’s melted nicely over the beef.
- Serve: Place the biscuit tops back on each assembled biscuit and serve warm. Pair with the au jus warmed in the Crock-Pot for dipping to enhance the savory flavors.
Notes
- For best results, keep the au jus warm in the Crock-Pot so it’s ready for dipping when serving.
- Use a sharp paring knife to carefully cut the biscuits without smashing them.
- Feel free to swap provolone for mozzarella or Swiss cheese for a different flavor profile.
- Leftover biscuits and beef can be stored in the refrigerator and reheated for up to 3 days.
- Consider serving with a side of pickles or a fresh salad to balance richness.
