Ingredients
Scale
Steak Marinade and Cooking
- 1 lb sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized cubes
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Fried Rice
- 4 cups cooked jasmine or white rice (day-old preferred)
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 1/2 cup chopped carrots
- 1/2 cup frozen peas
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce (for rice)
- 1 tablespoon butter (for rice)
- Salt and pepper to taste
For Serving (Optional)
- Yum yum sauce
- Sliced green onions or sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Marinate the Steak: Season the sirloin steak cubes with 2 tablespoons soy sauce and 1 tablespoon sesame oil. Set aside and let them marinate for 10–15 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- Cook the Steak: Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon vegetable oil. Add the marinated steak cubes and sear for 2–3 minutes per side until they are browned and cooked to your desired doneness. Add 1 tablespoon butter and minced garlic to the pan, tossing to coat the steak. Remove from heat and keep warm.
- Sauté Vegetables: In the same pan, add 1 tablespoon butter. Sauté the diced onion and chopped carrots for 3–4 minutes or until they become softened and fragrant.
- Scramble the Eggs: Push the sautéed vegetables to one side of the pan. Pour the lightly beaten eggs into the other side and scramble until cooked through. Then mix the eggs together with the vegetables.
- Make Fried Rice: Add the day-old cooked rice and frozen peas to the pan with the eggs and vegetables. Stir-fry everything together over medium heat until heated through.
- Season Fried Rice: Pour in 2 tablespoons soy sauce, add salt and pepper to taste, and stir well to evenly coat all the ingredients, ensuring the fried rice is flavorful.
- Serve: Plate the fried rice and top or serve alongside the hibachi steak. Garnish with sliced green onions or sesame seeds. Optionally, serve with yum yum sauce for an added burst of flavor.
Notes
- Use cold, day-old rice for the best fried rice texture and to prevent sogginess.
- For an extra flavor boost, drizzle some additional sesame oil over the finished dish before serving or add a splash of teriyaki sauce.
- You can substitute sirloin steak with ribeye or filet mignon for a more tender, luxurious steak experience.
