Description
Dollywood Cinnamon Bread is a sweet, soft loaf infused with cinnamon and sugar, topped with a buttery glaze and a rich powdered sugar icing. Perfect for a cozy breakfast or dessert, this recipe uses frozen bread dough for convenience, letting the dough thaw and rise before baking to a golden perfection.
Ingredients
Scale
For the Bread:
- 1 lb. Frozen Bread Dough, thawed
- 1 Tbsp Cinnamon
- 1/2 cup Sugar
- 4 Tbsp Unsalted Butter, melted
- 1/4 cup Brown Sugar (for sprinkling on top)
For the Icing:
- 1 cup Powdered Sugar
- 2 – 3 Tbsp Milk
Instructions
- Prepare the Pan for Baking: Lightly spray a loaf pan with cooking spray and line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make removing the bread easier.
- Thaw the Dough: Place the frozen bread dough into the prepared loaf pan and let it thaw for 4 to 7 hours until softened and ready for shaping.
- Mix Sugar and Cinnamon: In a shallow dish, combine 1/4 cup sugar with 1 tablespoon cinnamon to create the cinnamon-sugar mixture for coating the dough.
- Cut the Dough: Make 5 to 6 horizontal slits across the top of the thawed dough to allow for expansion and to create texture when baked.
- Coat in Butter and Cinnamon Sugar: Brush the melted butter evenly over the top of the dough and sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture generously on top for flavor and sweetness.
- Top and Rise: Allow the dough to rise in the pan for 30 minutes. Then sprinkle 1/4 cup of brown sugar over the top to add caramelization and extra sweetness as it bakes.
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it’s at the right temperature for baking.
- Bake: Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the bread is cooked through.
- Prepare the Icing: While the bread is baking, whisk together 1 cup powdered sugar with 2 to 3 tablespoons of milk until smooth to make a glaze.
- Finish and Serve: Once baked, drizzle the warm bread with the icing, pull apart the loaf, and enjoy the warm, soft, and sweet cinnamon bread.
Notes
- Ensure the bread dough is fully thawed before baking for even cooking.
- You can adjust the sweetness of the icing by adding more or less milk.
- For a richer flavor, try using melted salted butter instead of unsalted.
- This bread is best enjoyed warm on the day it’s baked but can be wrapped and stored for up to 2 days.
- Optional: Add chopped nuts or raisins on top before baking for extra texture and flavor.
