Ingredients
Scale
Filling
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup frozen chopped spinach, thawed and well-drained
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
Puff Pastry
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Baking Sheet: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure even baking.
- Make the Filling: In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, well-drained chopped spinach, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated and creamy.
- Roll and Cut Pastry: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet into a 10×10-inch square. Cut the pastry into 9 equal-sized squares for individual puffs.
- Fill Pastry Squares: Spoon approximately 1 tablespoon of the prepared filling into the center of each pastry square, ensuring an even amount in each.
- Shape and Seal: Fold each square into a triangle by bringing corners together or pinch the corners up to the center to seal the filling inside securely, preventing leakage during baking.
- Apply Egg Wash: Brush the tops of each filled pastry puff with the beaten egg. This will give them a beautiful golden and glossy finish once baked.
- Bake: Place the prepared puffs on the lined baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 18 minutes or until they are puffed up and golden brown on top.
- Cool and Serve: Remove the baking sheet from the oven and allow the puffs to cool slightly before serving so the filling sets and they are easier to handle.
Notes
- Make sure to squeeze out all the excess moisture from the spinach to avoid soggy pastry puffs.
- For a touch of heat, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the filling mixture.
- You can substitute feta cheese for Parmesan to give the filling a tangier flavor.
