Description

Classic Beef Rissoles are flavorful pan-fried ground beef patties mixed with onions, breadcrumbs, and seasonings. Crispy on the outside and tender inside, these rissoles make a perfect hearty meal served with mashed potatoes or a fresh salad.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef Mixture

  • 1 lb (500g) ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp tomato sauce (ketchup)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For Cooking

  • 2 tbsp olive oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, thoroughly combine the ground beef, finely chopped onion, breadcrumbs, egg, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until you have an even mixture.
  2. Shape Rissoles: Divide the meat mixture into equal portions then shape each portion into oval or round patties, about the size of your palm, forming the rissoles.
  3. Heat Oil: Warm the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat to ensure even cooking and prevent sticking.
  4. Cook Rissoles: Add the rissoles to the hot skillet. Fry each side for 4-5 minutes until they develop a golden brown crust and are fully cooked through.
  5. Drain Excess Oil: Remove the cooked rissoles from the pan and place them on paper towels to absorb any extra oil.
  6. Serve: Serve the hot rissoles immediately alongside mashed potatoes, vegetables, or a fresh salad for a complete meal.

Notes

  • For best results, do not overcrowd the skillet; fry in batches if necessary.
  • You can substitute Worcestershire sauce with soy sauce for a different flavor profile.
  • Leftover rissoles can be refrigerated and reheated in a skillet or oven.
  • To make this gluten-free, replace breadcrumbs with gluten-free breadcrumbs or crushed gluten-free crackers.
