Brownie Batter
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the brownies.
- Prepare Pan: Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan thoroughly to prevent sticking.
- Melt Butter: In a saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter until fully liquefied, then remove from heat.
- Combine Wet Ingredients: Stir the granulated sugar into the melted butter, followed by the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth and well blended.
- Add Dry Ingredients: Gradually mix in the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and salt, stirring just until combined to avoid overmixing.
- Fold in Mix-ins: Gently fold in the chocolate chips and optional chopped walnuts to distribute them evenly in the batter.
- Pour Batter: Pour the prepared batter into the greased baking pan, spreading it evenly.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs but no wet batter.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before cutting into 16 squares to serve.
Notes
- Do not overmix the batter once the flour is added to keep the brownies tender.
- Walnuts are optional but add a nice crunch and flavor contrast.
- Use a toothpick to test doneness; avoid overbaking to ensure fudgy brownies.
- Store brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
- For an extra festive touch, sprinkle powdered sugar or top with peppermint pieces after baking.
