Description
A quick and delicious recipe featuring tender chicken breasts cooked in a creamy and flavorful Boursin cheese sauce infused with garlic and herbs, perfect for an elegant weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
Scale
Chicken
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Sauce
- 1/2 cup Boursin cheese (garlic & fine herbs)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Garnish
- Fresh thyme, for garnish
Instructions
- Heat the oil: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat to prepare for cooking the chicken.
- Cook the chicken: Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper. Cook them in the skillet for 6-7 minutes per side until golden brown and thoroughly cooked.
- Set chicken aside: Remove the cooked chicken breasts from the skillet and set them aside to make the sauce.
- Sauté garlic: Add the minced garlic to the empty skillet and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- Make the sauce: Stir in the Boursin cheese, heavy cream, and chicken broth. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring until smooth.
- Simmer sauce: Let the sauce simmer for about 5 minutes, allowing it to thicken slightly and develop flavor.
- Combine chicken and sauce: Return the chicken breasts to the skillet, coating them with the creamy sauce. Simmer together for an additional 3-4 minutes until heated through.
- Garnish and serve: Sprinkle fresh thyme over the dish before serving to add a fresh herbal note.
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer to ensure chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) for safe consumption.
- Boursin cheese can be substituted with another creamy herb cheese if unavailable.
- For a thicker sauce, let it simmer a bit longer or add a small slurry of cornstarch and water.
- This dish pairs well with steamed vegetables, mashed potatoes, or rice.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated gently on stovetop or microwave.
