Description

Cheesy Taco Sticks are a delicious and fun handheld snack featuring seasoned ground beef and melted cheese wrapped in soft pizza dough. Perfect as an appetizer, party snack, or casual meal, these taco sticks combine the bold flavors of taco seasoning with gooey colby jack and cheddar cheese, baked to golden perfection.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat Filling

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning mix

Dough and Cheese

  • 1 tube Pillsbury Pizza Dough
  • 5 colby jack and cheddar cheese sticks, halved

Topping

  • 4 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Cook Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
  3. Season Beef: Drain any excess fat, then add the taco seasoning and follow the instructions on the seasoning packet. Stir to combine and then set aside.
  4. Prepare Dough: Roll out the Pillsbury Pizza Dough on a lightly floured surface to make handling easier.
  5. Cut Dough: Cut the dough into 10 equal rectangles to form individual taco sticks.
  6. Add Filling: Spoon a small portion of the seasoned beef onto each dough rectangle.
  7. Add Cheese: Place a halved cheese stick on top of the beef on each rectangle.
  8. Wrap Taco Sticks: Roll the dough around the filling, pinching the edges tightly to seal. Place each taco stick seam-side down onto the prepared baking sheet.
  9. Prepare Topping: In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with garlic powder and dried parsley.
  10. Brush Topping: Brush the butter mixture generously over each taco stick for flavor and golden color.
  11. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and fully cooked through.
  12. Cool and Serve: Allow the taco sticks to cool slightly before serving. They are great paired with salsa, guacamole, or sour cream for dipping.

Notes

  • Ensure the edges are sealed tightly to prevent cheese from leaking during baking.
  • Use parchment paper to avoid sticking and for easier clean-up.
  • Adjust taco seasoning quantity according to your preferred spice level.
  • Serve with your favorite dips like salsa, guacamole, or sour cream for enhanced flavor.
  • Leftover taco sticks can be wrapped and refrigerated for up to 2 days and reheated in the oven.
