Description

This Cheesy One Pan Meat Potato Skillet is a comforting and hearty dish combining savory ground beef, tender diced potatoes, sautéed onions, and garlic all cooked together in a single skillet. Finished with melted cheddar cheese, it’s an easy-to-make, flavorful meal perfect for busy weeknights or cozy dinners.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat and Vegetables

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 medium potatoes, diced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Seasonings and Others

  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil: In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat to prepare for sautéing.
  2. Sauté onions and garlic: Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until they become soft and fragrant, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Brown the ground beef: Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook, stirring frequently, until it is fully browned and no longer pink, breaking it up with a spatula.
  4. Add potatoes and seasoning: Stir in the diced potatoes, 1 teaspoon of paprika, salt, and pepper to taste, mixing everything evenly together.
  5. Cook potatoes: Cover the skillet and cook for 15-20 minutes over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the potatoes become tender and cooked through.
  6. Add cheese: Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the mixture in the skillet.
  7. Melt the cheese: Cover the skillet again and cook for a few minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Serve hot: Remove from heat and serve the cheesy meat potato skillet hot straight from the pan for a satisfying meal.

Notes

  • You can substitute cheddar cheese with mozzarella or Monterey Jack for a different cheesy flavor.
  • For extra veggies, consider adding diced bell peppers or mushrooms along with the onions.
  • Make sure to dice potatoes uniformly to ensure even cooking.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated up to 3 days and reheated on the stovetop or microwave.
