Ingredients
Scale
Rolls
- 1 package (12 count) Hawaiian sweet rolls
Garlic Butter Mixture
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Cheese
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent the rolls from sticking.
- Slice Rolls Horizontally: Without separating the rolls, use a serrated knife to carefully slice the entire slab of rolls in half horizontally. Place the bottom half of the rolls into the prepared baking dish, creating a base layer.
- Make Garlic Butter Mixture: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, chopped fresh parsley, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix well to blend all the flavors.
- Brush Bottom Half with Garlic Butter: Using a brush, evenly spread half of the garlic butter mixture over the cut sides of the bottom half of the rolls.
- Add Cheese Layer: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses evenly over the buttered bottom layer to ensure a cheesy, flavorful bite.
- Reassemble Rolls and Add Remaining Butter: Place the top half of the rolls back onto the cheese layer, then brush the remaining garlic butter mixture evenly over the tops of the rolls.
- Bake Covered: Cover the baking dish loosely with aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes to allow the cheese to melt and the rolls to heat through.
- Uncover and Finish Baking: Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 to 7 minutes until the cheese is fully melted and the tops of the rolls are golden brown.
- Cool and Serve: Let the rolls cool slightly before slicing them apart and serving warm for the best taste and texture.
Notes
- For an extra kick, sprinkle red pepper flakes over the cheese before baking.
- These rolls are best served warm but can be reheated in the oven for a few minutes if needed.
