Description

Deliciously soft Hawaiian sweet rolls layered with a rich garlic butter mixture and topped with a blend of melted mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. These Cheesy Garlic Hawaiian Rolls are perfect as a warm appetizer or party snack, combining sweet, savory, and cheesy flavors in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale

Rolls

  • 1 package (12 count) Hawaiian sweet rolls

Garlic Butter Mixture

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Cheese

  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent the rolls from sticking.
  2. Slice Rolls Horizontally: Without separating the rolls, use a serrated knife to carefully slice the entire slab of rolls in half horizontally. Place the bottom half of the rolls into the prepared baking dish, creating a base layer.
  3. Make Garlic Butter Mixture: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, chopped fresh parsley, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix well to blend all the flavors.
  4. Brush Bottom Half with Garlic Butter: Using a brush, evenly spread half of the garlic butter mixture over the cut sides of the bottom half of the rolls.
  5. Add Cheese Layer: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses evenly over the buttered bottom layer to ensure a cheesy, flavorful bite.
  6. Reassemble Rolls and Add Remaining Butter: Place the top half of the rolls back onto the cheese layer, then brush the remaining garlic butter mixture evenly over the tops of the rolls.
  7. Bake Covered: Cover the baking dish loosely with aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes to allow the cheese to melt and the rolls to heat through.
  8. Uncover and Finish Baking: Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 to 7 minutes until the cheese is fully melted and the tops of the rolls are golden brown.
  9. Cool and Serve: Let the rolls cool slightly before slicing them apart and serving warm for the best taste and texture.

Notes

  • For an extra kick, sprinkle red pepper flakes over the cheese before baking.
  • These rolls are best served warm but can be reheated in the oven for a few minutes if needed.
