Description

This Cardamom Iced Latte is a refreshing and aromatic coffee beverage that combines freshly brewed espresso with the warm spice of cardamom, sweetened with honey, and chilled with plenty of ice. Finished with creamy milk, it makes a perfect creamy, lightly spiced, and naturally sweetened caffeine fix for warm days or any time you crave a flavorful iced coffee treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Espresso Base

  • 2 shots (approx. 2 fl oz / 60 ml) espresso, freshly brewed with espresso machine or strong coffee maker

Flavoring & Sweetener

  • ¼ teaspoon (approx. 0.5 g) ground cardamom, freshly ground preferred
  • 1 teaspoon (approx. 7 g) honey, adjust to taste

Additions

  • Milk, to taste (whole milk recommended for creaminess, almond or oat milk as lighter alternatives)
  • Ice, plenty to fill glass (crushed ice preferred for smoother texture)

Instructions

  1. Brew espresso: Brew two shots of espresso using your espresso machine. If you don’t have an espresso machine, use a coffee maker set to a strong brew setting. This will create the rich coffee base needed for your iced latte.
  2. Mix cardamom and honey: While the espresso is still hot, add ¼ teaspoon of ground cardamom and 1 teaspoon of honey. Whisk vigorously until the cardamom dissolves and the honey is fully blended, creating a smooth, uniform mixture with aromatic spice and sweetness.
  3. Prepare glass with ice: Fill a tall glass with plenty of crushed ice. Crushed ice is preferred because it chills the drink faster and provides a smoother texture without overly diluting the coffee.
  4. Combine espresso and ice: Pour the spiced espresso mixture over the ice-filled glass. Ensure enough ice to chill quickly but avoid excessive melting which could water down the drink.
  5. Add milk and adjust sweetness: Pour your choice of milk into the glass to your preferred creaminess level. Stir gently to combine all ingredients and meld the flavors. Taste the iced latte and add a little more honey if you prefer it sweeter, then stir well before serving.

Notes

  • Using freshly ground cardamom enhances the aromatic flavor significantly compared to pre-ground versions.
  • Whole milk is recommended for a richer, creamier texture, but almond or oat milk are excellent lighter alternatives.
  • Crushed ice chills the latte faster and creates a smoother texture than ice cubes.
  • Adjust honey based on your preferred sweetness level.
  • This recipe can be easily scaled up for multiple servings.
