Description

Delicious and easy-to-make Cake Mix Toffee Bars that combine the rich buttery flavor of toffee bits with the moist, tender crumb of a yellow cake mix. These bars are perfect for a quick dessert or snack, featuring optional chocolate chips and nuts for extra texture and flavor. Baked in just 35 minutes, they offer a sweet, crunchy, and chewy treat everyone will love.

Ingredients

Scale

Base Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix (approximately 15.25 oz)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil

Add-Ins

  • 1 cup toffee bits
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper for easy removal and cleanup.
  2. Mix the Base: In a large mixing bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, eggs, and vegetable oil. Stir the mixture thoroughly until a thick, dough-like batter forms.
  3. Add the Goodies: Fold in the toffee bits evenly throughout the dough. If you choose to include them, also fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts at this point to distribute flavor and texture.
  4. Press into the Pan: Transfer the dough to the prepared baking dish and press it down evenly with a spatula or your hands to create an even layer.
  5. Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes. Bake until the edges turn golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Cool and Serve: Remove the bars from the oven and allow them to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares. Serve and enjoy your sweet, toffee-studded dessert bars.

Notes

  • You can substitute butter for vegetable oil for a richer flavor, but reduce the oil slightly if so.
  • For extra chocolatey bars, sprinkle some extra chocolate chips on top before baking.
  • Use parchment paper to make it easier to lift the bars out without breaking.
  • Store bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for up to a week.
  • Feel free to swap nuts with your preferred variety or omit if allergic.
