Ingredients
Scale
Filling
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup cooked crab meat (or imitation crab, chopped)
- 2 tablespoons green onions, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Wontons
- 20 wonton wrappers
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (or cooking spray)
Dipping Sauce (Optional)
- Sweet chili sauce or soy sauce
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with non-stick spray to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
- Prepare the Filling: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, cooked crab meat, chopped green onions, soy sauce, garlic powder, ground ginger, salt, and black pepper. Mix until the ingredients are thoroughly combined and the filling is smooth.
- Assemble the Wontons: Lay out the wonton wrappers on a clean surface. Place about 1 tablespoon of the crab filling in the center of each wrapper. Dip your finger in water and run it along the edges of the wrapper to help seal. Fold the wrappers into a triangle or a purse shape, pinching the edges tightly to seal the filling inside.
- Bake the Wontons: Arrange the assembled wontons on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them out so they are not touching. Lightly brush the tops with olive oil or spray with cooking spray to promote crispiness.
- Bake: Bake the wontons in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, flipping them halfway through the cooking time. They should turn golden brown and crispy on all sides when done.
- Serve: Remove the baked wontons from the oven and let them cool slightly. Serve warm with your choice of dipping sauce such as sweet chili sauce or soy sauce for added flavor.
Notes
- For best results, ensure the cream cheese is softened before mixing to achieve a smooth filling.
- Make sure to seal the wontons tightly to prevent the filling from leaking during baking.
- You can substitute imitation crab meat for fresh crab meat to reduce cost.
- These can be made ahead and baked just before serving to keep them crispy.
- Leftover wontons can be refrigerated for up to 2 days and reheated in the oven to maintain crispiness.
