Description

This Asian-Style Ground Beef Spaghetti is a flavorful fusion dish combining tender spaghetti noodles with a savory ground beef sauce infused with garlic, ginger, soy sauce, hoisin, oyster sauce, and a hint of sweetness. Quick to prepare and perfect for a weeknight dinner, it offers a delightful mix of Asian-inspired flavors with the comfort of pasta.

Ingredients

Scale

Pasta

  • 12 ounces spaghetti

Beef Mixture

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup beef broth

Garnish

  • 3 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Spaghetti: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/4 cup of the pasta water, then drain and set the spaghetti aside.
  2. Brown the Ground Beef: Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and cooked through, about 5 to 7 minutes. Drain excess grease if necessary.
  3. Sauté Aromatics: Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger into the skillet with the beef. Cook for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
  4. Add Sauces and Seasonings: Mix in the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, crushed red pepper flakes (if using), and beef broth. Stir well to combine and let the mixture simmer for 3 to 4 minutes until the sauce has slightly thickened.
  5. Toss with Spaghetti: Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet and toss to coat the noodles evenly with the sauce and beef mixture. If the sauce feels too thick, add a splash of the reserved pasta water to loosen it.
  6. Heat Through and Serve: Cook everything together for another 1 to 2 minutes to ensure it is heated through and well combined. Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter protein option.
  • For extra vegetables and nutrition, add shredded carrots, bell peppers, or snap peas during the sauté step.
  • Adjust the amount of crushed red pepper flakes to control the spice level according to your preference.
