Ingredients
Scale
Blueberry Juice
- 16 ounces frozen blueberries, or 2 cups fresh blueberries or blueberry juice
- 1 cup water
- ¾ cup organic raw sugar
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice (for cooking)
Lemon Tea
- 6 cups green tea (or black tea as a substitute)
- 6 tea bags or 6 teaspoons loose tea leaves
- ½ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4 lemons)
Instructions
- Make the blueberry juice: Combine the blueberries, water, organic raw sugar, and 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice in a medium saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat and simmer gently for 5 minutes. Use a potato masher or immersion blender to crush the blueberries and release their juices.
- Strain and cool the blueberry juice: Strain the mixture through a sieve into a bowl, discarding the solids. Allow the blueberry juice to cool to room temperature.
- Prepare the lemon tea: Boil water and pour over the tea bags or loose tea leaves. For green tea, let the water cool to 170-180°F before steeping for 3 minutes. For black tea, use boiling water and steep for 5-7 minutes. Strain out the tea leaves and let the tea cool to room temperature.
- Combine ingredients and chill: In a large pitcher, mix the cooled blueberry juice, cooled tea, and the remaining ½ cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Add ice if desired, or refrigerate until chilled.
- Serve: Pour the chilled antioxidant blueberry-lemon green tea into glasses over ice and enjoy a refreshing, healthful drink.
Notes
- Substitute black tea if you prefer a stronger flavor.
- Adjust sweetness by modifying the amount of raw sugar according to your taste.
- Use fresh lemon juice for the best flavor and antioxidant benefits.
- For an extra antioxidant boost, consider adding a few fresh mint leaves before serving.
- This tea is best served cold and can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
